Please read; can you help?
I recently spoke with 1 of our "own", Claire Martin, of Belle Flora (formerly of). As many of you know, she has been stricken with this insane disease called POTS. (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) In short, she cannot do MANY normal things like being upright, talking, moving, getting stressed... without passing out, getting sick, etc. (read about that at, http://stoppotsvirginia.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html)
I don't know her personally, but have become closer to her over Fb. Currently I'm trying to find her a nanny/sitter, to come in & help her with her 9 month old daughter & light house-keeping.
While conversing over Fb this morning, I put her in touch with a potential helper. She wrote me back to let me know that she had not called this person yet because her lungs flare up, give her pain.... & she can't really talk. Plus when she does the dizzyness & illness kicks in.
And as we all can relate to either side of this section (well I can), she mentioned that she's been home/bed bound now for over a year & basically most people in her life, friends & colleagues, have "fallen off the grid" (the ol' "life" kicks in). She feels it's because she cannot go out, be social or refer business. Her husband does it all when he gets home about 6; cooks, cleans, etc. She says its really taken a major toll on him.
That said, I wanted to see if...
* anyone would offer to provide a meal?! I can arrange a schedule. I'll even take it to her. Or even arrange to have delivery! There's also a place off N Lynnhaven that does meal prep.
* maybe bring a "spa" day to her at home? Him?
* Play dates for her kids?
* anyone would be interested in doing a fundraiser? (she really needs a wheelchair accessible van) Along with chipping away medical expenses.
* Any other ideas?
I apologize in advance for those of you that will read this in other wedding vendor groups.
~ Kristi
PS: Do read her blog & posts! She is QUITE comical about it!
